💡 What Counts as a “Micro-Moment”?

✓ Reading a book together (any length)
✓ Pointing out signs or labels
✓ Singing alphabet songs or rhymes
✓ Clapping syllables
✓ Looking at pictures and talking about them
✓ Acting out a story
✓ Playing with letters (magnetic, foam, etc.)
✓ Writing letters in shampoo or sand
✓ Listening to audiobooks
✓ Reading environmental print (cereal boxes, road signs)
✓ Making up stories together
✓ ANY engagement with print, letters, or stories!

If language and literacy were involved, it counts!

🎯 Tracking Goals by Month

💭 Reflection Prompts

Use these weekly or monthly to reflect on progress:

What’s working well?

What feels forced or difficult?

How has my child changed?

How have I changed?

What surprised me?

What do I want to try next?

🌱 Growth Indicators to Watch For

Over weeks and months, notice if your child:

✓ Asks about print spontaneously (“What does that say?”)
✓ Points out letters or words in the environment
✓ Picks up books independently
✓ Remembers stories and asks to re-read favorites
✓ Makes connections between stories and real life
✓ Shows excitement about books or reading
✓ Initiates literacy moments themselves
✓ Uses “book language” in play (“Once upon a time…”)
✓ Notices rhymes or patterns in words
✓ Asks how to spell or write words

These are signs that micro-moments are working!

🎯 When to Stop Tracking

You can stop formal tracking when:

✓ Reading moments happen automatically
✓ You’re consistently hitting 5+ moments daily without trying
✓ Ritual anchors are solid habits
✓ Tracking feels unnecessary or burdensome
✓ You’ve built the lifestyle you wanted

Tracking is a tool, not a life sentence!

Some families track for 2-4 weeks and then stop.
Others love the accountability and track for months.
Do what serves your family.

💡 Final Thoughts

This tracker isn’t about perfection.

You’ll have days with 1 moment. Days with 10.
Days you forget to track entirely.

That’s not failure—that’s life.

The goal is simply to notice: Tiny moments add up.
Reading doesn’t need a 30-minute block.
It just needs presence, playfulness, and consistency.

You’re already doing this. Now you get to see it. 🌸
